Spring/Summer 2027 Collection "Natural Born Nomads"

Bound to no one, part of no crowd—"I" run by my own free will alone. yoshiokubo Spring/Summer 2027 carries the concept of “Natural Born Nomads.” Belonging to nothing, choosing one’s daily life as the heart sees fit. That sense of freedom is the core of this collection.

It is precisely this unforced way of living that has long drawn designer Kubo. His designs originate from close observation—a fleeting moment in everyday life, a film, or a realization from his own daily routine.

The inspiration began with a scene Kubo witnessed along the coast of Los Angeles. A battered car pulled over, a young man who looked like a hippie got out, and began running with a natural flow. Captivated by that unbound, unadorned figure—someone running simply because he wanted to—Kubo felt a desire to express a nomadic freedom through his clothes.

This collection is not technical gear designed for a specific purpose. At its core is a lightness that allows for free movement, while naturally blending into everyday life. “The intent only becomes clear when you wear it”—for instance, a pair of shorts can be worn freely as part of your daily wardrobe while offering effortless mobility. A comfortable, unconventional ease is quietly woven into every single piece.

Another source of inspiration is the 1994 film Natural Born Killers. When Kubo revisited the film, known for its experimental imagery, the sound of the word “born” led him to think of “bones,” the framework that supports the body. That interest in essential strength overlapped with the inspiration for the collection’s title, and this season, “bone” serves as a key motif, hidden throughout the garments. We hope you will look for where these expressions are concealed at the venue.

Kubo’s own daily life is an extension of this freedom. His walks to the sauna gradually turned into runs, and now he spends long periods on a treadmill watching films. “I head out because there’s a film I want to see”—a habit born from simply stacking the things one wants to do. This relaxed, unhurried philosophy reflects the very spirit of the collection.

The clothes in this collection are much the same; wear them as an outfit one day, or to lighten your heart the next. Please wear them freely, according to your mood in that moment. That is the humble proposal of Spring/Summer 2027.
