誰にも縛られず、群れず、すべて自由な意志で“自分”は走る——。yoshiokubo Spring/Summer 2027は、「Natural Born Nomads」をコンセプトに掲げる。何にも属さず、自らの心のままに日常を選び取る。その自由な生き方こそが、このコレクションの核にある。

デザイナー久保がかねてより惹かれてきたのは、まさにそうした肩の力の抜けた生のあり方である。日常のふとした一場面、一本の映画、自らの暮らしの中の実感——身近な観察を出発点に服を立ち上げていく。

着想のきっかけは、久保がロサンゼルスの海岸沿いで見た光景にある。ボロボロの車が停まると、ヒッピーのような格好の若者が降り、ごく自然な流れで走り出した。「走りたいから走る」という、何にも縛られない、飾らないその姿に惹かれ、「ノマドのように自由なありようを服で表現したい」という思いが芽生えた。

本コレクションは、特定の誰かのための機能服ではない。自由に動ける軽やかさを芯に宿しながら、日常へ自然に溶け込む装い。「着てみて初めて、その意図が伝わる」——たとえば一枚のショートパンツも、身軽さを備えつつ、普段のファッションとして自在に着こなせる。型にはまらない心地よさを、一着ごとにそっと織り込んでいる。

もうひとつの源泉は、1994年公開の映画『ナチュラル・ボーン・キラーズ』にある。実験的な映像で知られる本作を久保が見返した折、「born」という響きから、身体を支える“骨”へと連想が広がった。その本質的な強さへの関心がコレクション名の着想とも重なり、今季は「骨」を鍵として随所へ潜ませている。会場では、その表現の在り処にもぜひ目を向けてほしい。

久保自身の日々もまた、この自由さと地続きにある。サウナへ徒歩で通ううちに、歩みはいつしか走りへと変わり、いまではトレッドミルで映画を観ながら長い時間を過ごすようになった。「観たい作品があるから出かけたくなる」——したいことを重ねるうちに習慣が生まれていく、その肩の力の抜けた流儀そのものが、コレクションの精神を映し出している。

本コレクションの服も同じように、ある日は装いとして、ある日は心を軽くするために。その時々の気分のまま、自由に纏ってほしい。それが、Spring/Summer 2027のささやかな提案である。

Bound to no one, part of no crowd — running by one's own free will alone. yoshiokubo's Spring/Summer 2027 collection is built on the concept of “Natural Born Nomads”: belonging to nothing, choosing each day as the heart sees fit. That freedom — a way of living entirely one's own — sits at the core of the collection.

It is precisely this unforced way of being that has long drawn designer Kubo. A fleeting everyday scene, a single film, a feeling from his own daily life — his designs begin from close, personal observation.

The spark came from a moment Kubo witnessed along the coast of Los Angeles. A battered car pulled over, and a young man dressed like a hippie stepped out and, quite naturally, began to run — running simply because he wanted to. Captivated by that unbound, easygoing figure, Kubo found a wish taking root: to give form, in clothing, to a way of being as free as a nomad.

This collection is not functional wear made for any one kind of person. At its heart is a lightness that moves freely, yet as clothing it settles naturally into everyday life. Its intent reveals itself only once worn: even a simple pair of shorts pairs easy mobility with the comfort of everyday style. Into each piece, an unbound ease is quietly woven.

A second source lies in the 1994 film Natural Born Killers. Revisiting the film — known for its experimental imagery — Kubo was drawn to the word “born,” and from there to “bone”: the frame that supports the body. That interest in an essential, structural strength echoed the collection's name, and this season “bone” runs through the pieces as a hidden key. At the venue, we invite you to seek out where it appears.

Kubo's own days flow from the same freedom. Walking to the sauna slowly turned into running, and today he spends long stretches on the treadmill, watching films as he goes — “there's a film I want to see, so I feel like heading out.” Habits born simply from following one's wishes, one after another: that easy, unhurried spirit is exactly what the collection reflects.

The clothes offer that same freedom — worn one day as an outfit, another simply to lift the spirits. Wear them however the mood takes you. That is the quiet proposal of Spring/Summer 2027.
