This is Kubo. Happy New Year.
Well, 2022 has begun. This year's zodiac sign is the tiger, and there are two people in my family whose zodiac sign has come around: my eldest daughter who is 12 years old, and myself. There's nothing particularly special about that, but since I'm the oldest boy in the year, I feel like I should try a little harder than usual.
This is unrelated, but isn't the tiger the coolest of the zodiac signs? It seems stronger than the rat or monkey, doesn't it? (Sorry to all those born in the year of the rat and monkey!) When I was in first grade, I found out my zodiac sign was the tiger, thought it was cool, and boasted to my friends, but almost all of them were born in the year of the tiger, which is an embarrassing memory.
I have a year-end routine that I started about seven or eight years ago. It involves writing down my goals for the coming year in the form of a letter to myself. On December 31st, 2021, I write down what I want to do in 2022, seal it with glue, and open it at the beginning of the year after next to read it. It's a way to check whether I've achieved my goals for the year.
Lately I've been writing a lot about design. I write in quite a bit of detail, such as "I want to make this kind of clothing," "Can't I make clothing that no one else has thought of?", "Shouldn't I make clothing that stands out from the silhouette?", etc. I intend to continue working hard this year so that I won't be embarrassed to read my writing a year from now.
Well, everyone, we look forward to your continued support in 2022.
