How to spend time on the plane (below)

This is Kubo, good evening. This time, I would like to continue writing about how to spend your time on a plane, following on from my last post (How to spend your time on a plane (part 1)) . Please bear with me for a little while.

Since starting the brand, I've been flying a lot more. When I was having exhibitions in Paris, I went there four times a year, and for two years from 2017, I flew to Shanghai every month. I also traveled abroad with my family quite often, so I was flying a lot until the COVID-19 pandemic.

Unlike the old story I wrote about last time, it's now common for seats to have a monitor, and some models even allow you to watch videos like Netflix. There are thousands of programs available. You can even order drinks on the touchscreen, and things are becoming more and more convenient.

It feels like a different era from the days when there was only one monitor per aisle and we listened to music or rakugo on a CD Walkman. There's Wi-Fi, so you can check Instagram or do anything you want with just a smartphone. The food has also gotten better, and even long flights are now very comfortable.

One of my must-have items when flying is a good pair of Bose headphones. They cost about 35,000 yen and have noise cancellation, which is great. I use them mainly on planes. Lately, I've been downloading movies from Amazon Prime and Netflix and listening to the audio through these headphones.

If I want to relax on the plane, it's uncomfortable to wear my outer clothes, so I first go to the bathroom and get changed. Lately, I've got a set look: leggings, shorts, a T-shirt and a hoodie. It's exactly the same as what I wear at home. I don't like sloppy clothing, so I'm against sweatpants. I don't wear tracksuit pants.

Speaking of how I spend my time on the plane, since I can't sleep on planes, I often watch movies. When my daughters were little, I had to keep them entertained, so I didn't have time for that, but now that they're grown up, I can relax. This is another big difference from before. Sometimes we watch sad movies that are playing on the plane, and I really like it. I rarely cry at movies, but sometimes I get emotional. But because it's dimly lit like a movie theater, it's hard to tell. When that happens, I look around and see someone with shaking shoulders. I'll think, "Oh, that person is crying," and then I'll turn to my wife, who's also watching the movie, and she'll be bawling her eyes out, lol. Now, since planes are like movie theaters, I can't help but think that if they sold things like Coke and popcorn, they'd sell like hot cakes. It's that comfortable.
