We spoke to the planning staff, who work closely with designer Kubo on a daily basis, about the behind-the-scenes story of the 2025 Spring/Summer collection.
-What item would you like to introduce?
-Why did you choose it?
This was one of the most memorable pieces from the SS25 collection.
While incorporating current fashion trends such as "vintage" and "used clothing," the products are packed with gimmicks that are characteristic of yoshiokubo .
In fact, this shirt is made using the same techniques as the camouflage pants that designer Kubo made and wore himself when he was training in New York . It's a revival that reconstructs memories from the past.

This piece embodies the fascinating idea that fashion changes over time and takes on new forms.
For more details, please also take a look at the Journal on the yoshiokubo online store, " A Talk with a Fashion Designer about Remaking and Upcycling Clothing, Part 2. " Now, let me introduce you to the special details.
Feature 1 : Dyeing
As the product name suggests, if you look closely you will see that it has a camo pattern. It is what is commonly known as a " camouflage pattern," but with a twist, it has been given a unique look.
Let's dig a little deeper.
The dyeing technique used for this shirt is called "reactive dyeing." This is a dyeing method that is suitable for plant fibers such as cotton and linen, and is characterized by its resistance to fading and excellent durability.
At the sample stage, we conducted numerous studies to check the dye concentration and appearance.

In addition, we use "product dyeing," which involves dyeing the garment after sewing, and polyester thread for the sewing.
This yarn does not dye, so we control the color of the yarn in advance to design the overall color balance.
These points may not seem obvious, but they are actually calculated points.

Name tags are sewn on and dyed in advance, while quality tags are sewn on after dyeing.
This is to prevent the dye from seeping into the tag.
Furthermore, since the dyeing process is done on multiple pieces at once using large machines, there is a risk of color variation.
This can only be controlled with the advanced technology of the production factory.
Feature 2 : Splash processing
Each piece is hand-finished using special dyes on the base fabric.
The interesting thing about the SPLASH DARK CAMO S/S SHIRT is its paint -splattered texture .
If you look closely, you'll see that the front is bold, while the back has a gradation pattern starting from the hem and working its way up.
By varying the density of the splashes from front to back, we were able to create a work-like nuance.

There is also ingenuity in the processing process.
The garment is laid flat with the fronts together to allow the dye to evaporate evenly, and then the buttons are attached at the end.
(That's why each piece has a slightly different splash. If you purchase online, we hope you'll pick up the one that you stumble upon by chance, and if you purchase in-store, we hope you'll pick up the one that feels the best out of the several we have.)
Feature 3 : Sewing
In contrast to the very casual atmosphere, the stitching width is small, which is a feature often seen in dress shirts, and is another point we would like to recommend.
The seams are made with a flat-felled stitch to increase durability.
This technique is also used in areas that require strength, such as armholes and side seams.

Another point to note is the fine wrinkles called "puckering" that form in the seam allowances.
This is a natural look that occurs when the fabric shrinks during the dyeing and washing process, and is a detail that is often seen on items such as the MA-1 jacket.
In this shirt, the puckering creates a natural texture.
It doesn't affect the comfort of the garment, and actually adds a nice touch to the finish.

It has the precise stitching of a dress shirt and the rough look of a work shirt.
I believe that this hybrid feeling of taking the best of both worlds is the unique appeal of a collection brand.
An open-collar shirt that can be worn on its own or as a jacket.
The material is seasonless, so it can be worn all year round depending on how you wear it.
If you're even slightly interested, be sure to pick it up.
