"We're definitely going to put on an interesting show!" was the realization of the runway show at Hikarie

This is Kubo.
This was a while ago, but on September 2, 2025 , yoshiokubo unveiled its Spring/Summer 2026 collection, " Tailored for the spin," at Rakuten Fashion Week TOKYO.
In this article, we will talk about our impressions and the "answers" to the reaction to the show.

Combining fashion and breakdancing

This collection "combines fashion and breakdancing with Red Bull BC One , delivering three-dimensional silhouettes and new expressions born from the dancers' movements." The collection was not only held in person on the day, but was also streamed live. Were you able to watch it?
If you haven't seen it yet, be sure to check it out here!

I've watched it over and over again, and it's still so funny!
I think it's one of yoshiokubo 's best shows, and it's a show that you'll never get bored of watching.

Of course, the previous show with Hanayashiki and the one before that with Yoshimoto Shinkigeki were also great.
But it's just as awesome.
While I was very satisfied with it, it may have looked quite innovative and experimental in terms of a fashion show.

The show is fun, but it can also be scary. Once you get through it, you'll feel an incredible sense of accomplishment!

Fashion shows can be said to have a certain "format," such as the basic format where models walk down the runway one after another in time with music, or the installation style where models stand and the audience watches them at their own pace.

In that sense, you could say that the show I did this time was quite "unconventional."
A DJ raised the energy of the venue along with the music, and Japan's best breakdancers showed off their moves on the central stage, while models walked down the runway around them.
I am confident that this fusion has turned out to be an entertaining show that allows people to enjoy it.

The sound engineer and DJ did an especially great job!
Behind the scenes of a fashion show, all sorts of things can happen, such as confusion when sending models off or various other troubles, big and small, but personally, what I find most frightening is the ``empty space'' that could be created.

Even a moment of silence can destroy the atmosphere. Imagine that kind of fear the night before...
So I looked back at my past shows and got motivated, saying to myself, "I'm definitely going to give a great performance this time too!" However, in this show, the sound and DJ skills filled in the gaps, so there was no room for any blank spaces, and I was able to create a foundation for everything to be perfect and complete.
I am truly grateful.

However, with so many things to see and pay attention to, some people were left wondering, "Which should I watch, the dance or the show?"

My thoughts on the day were, "It doesn't matter which one you look at, I just want you to be interested in what catches your eye at that moment."

A fashion show is all about having people walk, and clothes are all about having people move around in them.
Just like that moment when you come across a piece of clothing that catches your eye in the street and you can't help but follow it with your eyes, I want people to look at fragments of things that they are drawn to intuitively and enjoy each moment, and I think that was what this show was about.

Fashion shows are both fashion and entertainment

My shows in particular attract a wide variety of people, not just people in the industry who are accustomed to watching fashion shows, people who understand the business side of fashion, and people who understand the details of clothing, but also close customers, business partners, friends, and others.
I hope that people will enjoy the same space in different ways, using their own inner sensibilities, and I would be happy if they could experience a ``vague newness'' that cannot be put into words or visualized.

Fashion shows were originally meant to get people to buy clothes, but now I feel like they have become more of a PR thing. However, I don't stick to that, I also pursue reality, and I want to show something that combines fashion and entertainment.
The reason I started thinking this way was when I was collaborating with Yoshimoto Shinkigeki and was shocked when one of the audience members said to me, "The fashion show has come down to ordinary people like me."
When I heard these words, I felt very embarrassed for having thought until then that it was okay if people didn't understand, and I believe that my current show is also an ``answer'' to my past self.

Enjoyable as a fashion show/entertaining

Yoshiokubo 's fashion shows captivate people with their unique worldview, and the most important thing is to make them think, "This is interesting!" about the things they like.
What I want to show my customers is something that is interesting from start to finish.
I want to continue showing things like this, and this was one of those shows where I felt I was able to do that.

We are currently planning to show you something even better next time.
Please look forward to it!

Spring/Summer 2026 Collection Tailored for the spin

Running, jumping, flying, spinning, sinking, and then remaining motionless still - a collection that pursues "clothing" that becomes a "third skin."

I admire the explosive power that is released at the moment of birth,
The three-dimensional clothing is constantly capturing the unpredictable and extreme spirit of human beings, from free-flowing movement to complete stillness.

"Switching" depicted by tracing the flowing stillness and movement
"Technical" captures and incorporates silhouettes that change from moment to moment
"Printing" that gives form and visibility to unique "individuality"

Everything is done to create a piece that will be loved for a long time and that you will never want to throw away.
