The best features recommended by the planning staff
This is a series in which we interview the planning staff who work closely with designer Kubo on a daily basis to hear the inside story of his work.
This time, we will pick out items from Fall/Winter 2025 and take a deeper look.
What item would you like to introduce?
SHAGGY TWIST VEST
The biggest feature of the " SHAGGY TWIST VEST " is the "twist" pattern that connects the left and right sides of the body in a flowing manner.
With its innovative design unlike any other vest, this is a piece that will highlight the wearer's individuality.
Why did you choose it?
This vest features a "twist pattern" that has been available for several seasons, and the brushed material gives it an impactful visual appearance.
I personally purchased this vest as an outerwear piece that is easy to style and can be worn for a long time.
Ease of styling ① ~ Easy to match
The ease of styling, as it can be worn with anything underneath, is an attractive feature.
When the seasons change, you can pair it with a cut-and-sew top such as a T-shirt or long-sleeved T-shirt, or when it gets a little chillier, you can pair it with a thick sweatshirt or sweater.
At the runway show held at Hanayashiki, we suggested styling the outfit with a SHAGGY TWIST DUFFLE COAT worn underneath.
Ease of styling②~Enjoy layering
It is filled with fluffy padding so it looks like down, but it can also be used as a liner, greatly expanding the range of styling options.
Earlier we mentioned wearing a down vest over a coat, but it can also be worn under outerwear, making it useful as a liner.
It might be fun to find a layered style that suits you.
Easy to style ③ ~ The secret of the lining: Anti-static measures
Layering is essential for winter styling.
However, one thing that comes to mind is the phenomenon where different materials become electrically charged due to friction, known as the problem of "static electricity."
There are combinations of materials that are prone to generating static electricity, such as polyester x nylon and wool x polyester, but the lining of this vest is made of nylon that has been treated with an anti-static coating.
This allows you to style it freely without worrying about the material of the top you wear underneath.
This is a key point we would like to highlight about this clothing, which was designed with the idea of actually wearing it in mind.
Detail Features
As I mentioned earlier, the distinctive feature of this vest is its twist pattern, but what adds even more accent to it is the streamlined stitching.
It is much more difficult to sew than a straight line, and you will need something like a "guideline" to sew a nice arc.
The pattern has been designed so that if you use these points as landmarks while sewing, you will end up with beautiful lines.

A digression on details
This is a standard process for ready-made clothing, but most padded outerwear has a nonwoven fabric called "spunbond" sandwiched between the layers to prevent the padding from coming out on the surface.
Without this, cotton fibers would escape through the smallest gaps in the fabric, just like when feathers escape from a down product.
The " SHAGGY TWIST VEST " is also not visible from the outside, but this spunbond material is layered between the lining, padding, and outer fabric, so when viewed from the outside it appears to be a three-layer fabric consisting of outer fabric, padding, and lining.
However, I think it's interesting to know that this vest actually has five layers of spunbond.
It's so well-made that you'll be able to use it for a long time.
This vest can be used from now until around March, so I hope you will pick it up.
