Looking back at yoshiokubo's Fall/Winter 2021 collection

Now that it's easier for designers to share their voices, I'd like to introduce the collection in my own words to my loyal fans. So, this time, I'd like to take a look back at some of the items from 2021 A/W.

MARBLE L/S TEE
For example, highways merging from completely different directions. Train rails overlapping as a switch switches. This top was created by discovering a sense of Japanese style in the beautiful streamlined shapes that can only be seen from a bird's-eye view. The curved lines created with thick stitching maintain an exquisite balance, creating a refined impression. This piece embodies yoshiokubo's desire to "pursue patterns and details that have never been seen before."

TIE DYE SWEAT PANTS
At first glance, these sweatpants look brightly colored, but because they have a slacks pattern, they are actually elegant. The tie-dye print, which is dyed by tying the pants with rope, is scattered in various places with a balanced unevenness, making it surprisingly subdued and less noticeable than it might appear. Symbols of this season's collection, such as Mount Fuji, are embroidered on the sides of the pants.

Twisted Top
Yoshiokubo's specialty is the mix of different materials, combining cotton and nylon. The comfortable curve that runs dynamically across the front is created by twisting and then sewing, making the fabric stand out, allowing your hand to slip through. This craftsmanship was only possible thanks to the high level of skill of the artisans. This piece incorporates Japanese elements, a recent theme, not only in the design but also in the process.

FLEECE PANTS
Mount Fuji, Japan's world-famous mountain, is also one of the themes of this season's collection. These mountain pants were created with the desire to create something with a mountain theme. Light and comfortable fleece is a familiar material. Bold patches are placed from the front of the knee to the back to add a strong accent, expressing Yoshiokubo's desire to "do things differently from others."

PAISLEY SCARF SHIRTS
The original pattern, named Endless Paisley, is a repeating design that is not often seen in regular paisley patterns. The Japanese motif, which is yoshiokubo's recent theme, will emerge if you look closely at the pattern. The scarf, which runs like a sash from the front and back of the shoulders, is long enough to be worn either tied under the armpits or left flowing.

TWILL TUCK PANTS
At first glance, they look like ordinary pants. However, the fabric is just the right thickness, and they have been well-received for their "versatility," leading to their third release this season. They feature a drawstring for comfortable wear, as well as soft stretch 100% polyester, which means they won't wrinkle, and they stretch just enough to retain their shape. The relaxed tapered fit makes them versatile and suitable for any style. The design allows for easy movement and even has a hint of hakama (traditional Japanese trousers).

We have uploaded a 15-second video to the official yoshiokubo Instagram where a model wears the items introduced in this article and explains the key points. Please take a look if you are interested.
