Are you the type to buy a new one in the new year, or the type to buy a new one in the new fiscal year?

We are already in the third month of 2025 .
Whether it's a new year or a new fiscal year, it's a time when we want to buy new clothes and other personal items.
In my case, the New Year was the perfect time, and I came across some great things this year.

So, what do I replace every year? That's what I buy every year: stationery, which is my only "weapon" as a fashion designer.

This may seem a little surprising, but for many years I have been sketching design drawings for pattern makers on a small A6 notepad with a 0.3mm mechanical pencil, and then tracing over it with a pen. This means I can't get started without a mechanical pencil or pen.

However, perhaps because the lead of a mechanical pencil is thin or because of the pressure I apply, the more ideas I come up with and the more I write, the more likely it is to break.
This was quite stressful, so I wandered around Itoya in Ginza wondering if there was a better option, and that's when I came across the pencil in the photo.

(The red, black, and gray pencils on the left are the rumored ones. The others are well-used "weapons.")

This matte case is a bit unusual and, above all, stylish! I bought it immediately.
When I actually use it, the barrel that comes into view from the edge of my field of vision is modern and pleasant, and unlike a mechanical pencil the lead doesn't break, so I can use it without interrupting my thoughts and really feel how good it is.
Whenever an idea strikes me, I quickly sketch out the overall image with this pencil, then add in the finer details with a 0.3mm fine mechanical pencil, and finally clean it up with a pen. This has further refined my production style.

I'm sure someone would say, "Why not just do it digitally?", and it's true that using digital tools makes it easier to add color and create patterns, but it will probably take me a while to get used to it.
So, I hope to use this pencil as a new weapon in the future and create even better yoshiokubo than before.

By the way, the yoshiokubo online shop has the 2025 Spring/Summer Collection "Shu・Ha・Ri, Jizai" This collection was released in collaboration with Yoshimoto Shinkigeki and is one that we feel very attached to, so if you're thinking about buying something new for the new year, we hope you'll take a look.
